After the end of World War II, the Belgian military resumed independently designing and producing its standard-issue uniforms, and the design of this smock was clearly influenced by the British Denison smock. At the time, the Denison smock was extremely popular across Western Europe, leading many countries to develop their own “Denison-inspired” versions.
Like the original British model, the Belgian version also adopted a brushstroke camouflage pattern. Its colors and layout closely resemble those of British wartime camouflage smocks, yet distinctive Belgian characteristics can still be seen in the details and tonal nuances.
The overall cut and construction likewise follow the Denison framework: four front pockets combined with a half-placket design and a metal zipper, clearly stamped with the “riri” marking. On the back, the iconic beaver tail is retained, fully expressing the classic silhouette of a paratrooper smock.
